About fixed head nodes
The head (or water level) in these nodes is fixed throughout the simulation. You can enter a constant head for the duration of the simulation, or a series of head levels over a 24-hour period. This can be useful for modelling transfers from trunk mains, for which the pressure has been logged. Typical examples are:
- Sources of water (rivers, lakes, aquifers) where the quantity of available water is infinitely larger than withdrawals.
- Large suction tanks and reservoirs.
- Any point which you want to treat as a fixed-head node.
A fixed-head point effectively splits the system in two parts, mutually independent - except for the same value of pressure at the node.
You cannot attach any demand to these nodes.
