Tutorial glossary
- Component of ESRI's ArcGIS Geographical Information System (GIS). It is developed as client software specifically for the Microsoft Windows environment, to enable more intuitive processing and presentation of ArcGIS data. [Ref: Wikipedia]
- Entry level licensing level of ArcGIS Desktop, a geographic information system software product produced by ESRI. The ArcView software is split between ArcMap & ArcCatalog. ArcMap is used for map composition and geographic analysis. ArcCatalog is used for geographic data management. The Shapefile format, developed and regulated by ESRI , commonly refers to a collection of files with ".shp", ".shx", ".dbf", and other extensions on a common prefix name. - The real time control data associated with the objects in a network.
- Comma separated variable (CSV) files used in importing, exporting or updating networks and control data sets.
- A demand category describes the demand pattern for an individual type of consumer. For example domestic or hotel use. One or more demand categories make up a demand diagram.
- A demand diagram is a complete description of the pattern of demand within the supply area and time period being modelled. It consists of one or more demand categories, which describe demand patterns for individual types of consumer. A demand diagram is an essential component of a run.
- An electricity tariff is a collection of one or more tariff rates. Each tariff rate defines an individual charging scheme for electricity use. An electricity tariff is included in a run to provide energy use cost estimates for all pumps in the model.
InfoWorks WS Pro to convey additional information about the parameter, such as the source or reliability of the data.
- You can apply user defined data flags to many parameters within- The display on the GeoPlan view is based on an embedded GIS component. Currently supported GIS components are MapX from MapInfo, and MapObjects from ESRI (ArcView and ArcMap).
- Decrease in total head caused by friction.
- A link represents a connection between two nodes. Links can be pipes (transport water from one node to another), pumping stations (add energy to the water flowing through them) or valves (control the flow of water by reducing its hydraulic energy).
- A live data configuration is a set of real world data recorded in a logger or telemetry file.
InfoWorks WS Pro during data intensive tasks. Use the InfoWorks WS Pro to find your current local root directory.
- The local working folder is a directory where local copies of data files are stored. This should ideally be on your own computer to get maximum performance fromPrecisely Holdings, LLC. It uses MapInfo TAB format which is a proprietary format. [Ref: Wikipedia]
- Commonly used desktop GIS software package produced by- The master database provides a flexible hierarchy for managing model data and contains all your model data and results. A master database consists of a database file and a directory containing results files.
- This is the top level group in the master database. A model group contains version controlled items and other groups containing items of a specific type.
- A node is a location where head, inflow, or outflow is known. There are several types of nodes. Refer to the main help for more details.
- see .
- Themes allow you to display a particular parameter graphically on the GeoPlan view.
- User programmable control, allows you to change the state of control elements (regulators) such as pumps and valves based on information from sensors elsewhere in the network.
- A UPC scenario contains details of structures, sensors and rules that together determine flows throughout the network. If you have several scenarios, each one represents one possible way in which the network can be controlled.
