Export to CSV Files
- Display the Select CSV Export Options Dialog by one of the following options:
-
Right-click on the network in the Explorer Window and select Export | to CSV from the popup menu. The Select Network Version and Scenario dialog is displayed.
Select which scenario is to be exported from the list. Click # to select which version of the scenario is to be exported.
- With a network open select Export | To CSV files from the Network menu. (The latest version of the current scenario will be exported.)
- Select the options you require from the dialog:
- The same data is exported whether you choose to export to one file or a file per object type. Your choice depends on what the exported data will be used for.
- Include Database Field Names must be checked if you want to create files in the correct format for subsequent import into InfoAsset Manager.
- If Include Object Type Column, Include Field Descriptions and Include Unit Descriptions are checked, useful additional information will be provided when viewing the data outside InfoAsset Manager.
- If Include Flag Fields is checked, it will increase the size of your CSV files. Only check this box if you need the flag data.
- We recommend that you check Use InfoWorks Native Units if you intend to re-use the data in InfoAsset Manager. Any changes made by a user to the units used in the InfoAsset Manager interface are only stored locally for that user. See Changing the Display Units for more details on selecting your own units.
- Storage precision for some numbers is greater than display precision. For example, numbers stored as doubles have 15 decimal places. No numbers are displayed at this precision. Leaving Use Display Precision for Numbers unchecked may increase the size of your files.
- Export selection only can be used if the network containing the data to be exported is currently open. Check this option to only export the selected objects.
- Check Use UTF8 encoding to encode the exported data using the UTF-8 encoding system.
- Exporting arrays may greatly increase the size of your CSV files, so think carefully whether you need this data. If you want to re-create the network elsewhere, or re-import, failing to export arrays will cause loss of data.
- When you have selected your options, click OK. A standard File Save dialog is displayed.
- Choose where you want to save the CSV files.
- Click Save.
