Expanding Selected Objects
The current selection of objects can be extended to include related objects.
To expand the current selection:
- Choose the Expand selection option from the Selection menu and the Expand Selection dialog is displayed.
- Check the object types for which the selection is to be expanded in the From pane.
- Check the object types which are to be added to the current selection in the To pane.
- Select the expansion options, if available, as required (see the Expand Selection Dialog topic for more details):
- Between nodes and links, which is only available if an object type in the From pane is a node or a link. Check:
- Upstream - to include the related nodes and links which are located upstream from the currently selected nodes and links
- Downstream - to include the related nodes and links which are located downstream from the currently selected nodes and links
- Lateral - to include the related lateral nodes which are connected to the currently selected links
- Main - to include the related main links which are connected to the currently selected lateral nodes
- From property to pipe, which is only available if an object type in the From pane is a property. Check:
- Sanitary pipes - to include the sanitary pipes which are related to the currently selected property objects
- Storm pipes - to include the storm pipes which are related to the currently selected property objects
- From hydrant test to hydrant, which is only available if an object type in the From pane is a hydrant test. Check:
- Pressure hydrant - to include the pressure hydrants which are related to the currently selected hydrant test objects
- Flow hydrant - to include the flow hydrants which are related to the currently selected hydrant test objects
- Click Expand Selection, and a window is displayed informing you of the number of objects which are to be expanded.

Click OK to close the message window and extend the current selection to include the selected object types that are checked in the To pane of the dialog. The object types listed in the From pane may be updated to include any new object types from the To pane.
The From pane displays the currently selected object types while the To pane displays the related object types that may be added to the current selection.
If required, the current selection can be expanded further by repeating Steps 2 to 6.
