Importing Catchment Parameters from the FEH CD or Web Service

The FEH and ReFH Design Rainfall Generators allow the import of catchment descriptors from the FEH CD-ROM that supplements the Flood Estimation Handbook (1999).

Catchment descriptors can also be imported for calculating subcatchment ReFH parameters in the Calculate ReFH/ReFH2 Parameters Dialog.

In order to import catchment descriptors, they must first be exported from the FEH CD application or FEH web service as CSV or XML files.

To import the catchment descriptors from the FEH CD application:

  1. Open the FEH software package. A map of the UK is displayed.
  2. Zoom in to the area of interest and click on the outfall of the catchment. The catchment will be bordered in bright green.
  3. When the correct catchment has been selected, click the Query button. A complete list of the Catchment Descriptors will be displayed.
  4. Click on Export. The Catchment Descriptors can now be saved in a CSV or XML file.

Alternatively, the catchment descriptors can be downloaded from the FEH web service.
