Editing Global User Defined Field Names
InfoAsset Manager provides additional user fields that can be viewed from the Network Grid Windows and from the Network Property Sheets.
There are 40 numeric fields, 40 text fields and five data fields. By default, these fields are called User Number 1 to User Number 40, User Text 1 to User Text 40 and User Date 1 to User Date 5.
The default names for these user fields can be set to a user defined name in the InfoAsset Manager via the User Defined Field Names Dialog. Field names defined in the User Defined Field Names Dialog will be applied across the database as user field default names.
User field names can also be set via the Network Grid Windows. Field names edited via the Grid Window are network specific and will override global default names. See Renaming Additional User Fields for more information.
To define global user field names:
- Select Database management | User defined field names from the File menu . This will display the User Defined Field Names Dialog.
- Select the object type for which user defined field names are to be edited from the Table dropdown list.
- The internal database field names are displayed in the Database Field Name column. Enter User Defined Field Names against the appropriate database field name entry.
- Click OK to accept changes
Note: long user defined field names may not be fully visible when displayed on property sheets.
