Dye Test Surveys
Dye Test Surveys are commonly used to:
- Identify cross connections between pipes
- Identify illegal connections to the sewer
Dye is injected into a pipe or spread over an area and observations of dye in a monitored pipe are noted, (frequently by use of cctv).
A Dye Test object contains information related to a single survey of a pipe. Each Dye Test object may be associated with a single monitored pipe and a single injection pipe via which the dye enters the system. Each pipe may have many surveys linked to it.
Dye Test Surveys can be:
- created as scheduled tasks. Please refer to the Digitising Network Objects and Scheduled Tasks topics for further information.
- entered manually in the Dye Test Grid View in the Survey Grid. Please refer to the Digitising Network Objects topic for further information.
Dye Test Surveys can also be viewed and edited from the Dye Test Grid View in the Survey Grid .
The Dye Test Survey is displayed as a line drawn over the monitored pipe. If an injection pipe has also been specified a line will be drawn over the injection pipe also. Selecting the Dye Test will highlight both parts of the object.
Reports providing a summary and detailed information about selected surveys in the network are available. See the Survey Reports topic for further information.
Validation is available to ensure that the Dye Test is associated with existing pipes in the network. See the Joining Selected Surveys with Pipes topic for details on automatically associating surveys with pipes by matching the PLR / Asset ID field of the survey to the Asset ID field of a pipe.
Use the Navigate | To Related Objects () toolbar option from the Dye Test Survey tabbed Property Sheet or Object Properties Window to open the Property Sheet for the associated monitored pipe, resources and materials or for other surveys associated with the monitored pipe.
Alternatively launch the Object Browser Window to displays object relationships and manage related objects.
