InfoAsset Manager Reports
This topic describes the various types of reports available in InfoAsset Manager.
Some reports are available to certain network types only.
Reports for large numbers of network objects will take significant time to generate.
Once a report is complete, it can be opened in an appropriate software package.
You may want to change the way the generated report looks to suit your corporate style. See Customising Report Templates for more information.
The content of the reports cannot be changed, except for Excel Custom Reports.
With the exception of Microsoft Excel Custom Reports, every report is generated using a Microsoft Word or HTML template. Format and save location options can be set in the Report Options Dialog.
The following section details general instructions that are valid for every report type. To generate a report:
- With a network open, choose the desired option from the Reports menu.
- This displays the Data Source Dialog.
- Choose the data source type for the report. You can report on:
- the entire network
- the current selection
- a zone or zone category
- If you selected the zone or zone category option you now need to select the zone or category name from the Data Source dropdown list.
- Click OK to continue. Save options will be carried out according to the settings (format, location and filename) in the Report Options Dialog but you can overwrite location and filename settings in the Save As dialog that gets displayed. Click on the Save button.
- The Report Generation Progress Dialog is now displayed and the report is generated.
- When the report is completed, you can open it using the Open button in the Report Generation Progress Dialog. If the Automatically open this document when complete check box has been ticked, the report will be opened automatically.
Steps 2 to 4 do not apply to the Inventory Report. Refer to the Inventory Report section in this topic for further details.
The summary report presents an overview of part or all of your network. It provides information about the number of nodes, length and sizes of pipes. For Collection Networks, the fraction of pipes that have been surveyed by CCTV is also reported.
To generate a Summary Report, choose Summary report from the Reports menu, then follow the general instructions detailed above.
The validation report summarises the information that would usually be displayed in the validation window in a form more suitable for distribution. The validation rules used are those currently associated with the network in the usual manner.
To generate a Validation Report, choose Validation report from the Reports menu.
The manhole report is a detailed report about a selection of manhole objects in the network. The report contains at least one page per object, so attempting to create a report covering a large number of objects will produce a very large file.
A manhole record card is generated for each manhole. Additionally, internal and location photos are reproduced to provide detailed information about the node assets.
This report is very similar to the Manhole Survey Report, which provides an almost identical report about the observed manhole survey data in the network.
The contents of the survey report are:
- Manhole Summary - an overview of the selected manholes with details of anything flagged as requiring attention
- Individual Manhole Record Cards- there is one card per manhole. (Note for Collection Networks:- the record cards are based on the old STC25 printed record cards that would have been filled out in the field.)
- Network Validation Report- a printed version of the output from network validation
To generate a Manhole Report, choose Manhole report from the Reports menu.
The Defect Report provides a summary of all nodes with condition information that suggests that maintenance work is required. Additionally, tables are provided identifying all pipes with a structural or service condition grade of 4 or 5.
To generate a Defect Report, choose Defect report from the Reports menu.
The incident report is a detailed report about a selection of incident objects in the network. The report contains at least one page per object, so attempting to create a report covering a large number of objects will produce a large file.
The contents of the incident report are:
- Incident Summary - a list of the selected incidents with details of type of incident and associated assets.
- Individual Incident Record Cards - there is one card per incident.
To generate an Incident Report, choose Incident report from the Reports menu.
The general asset report is a detailed report about a selection of general asset objects in the network. The report contains at least one page per object, so attempting to create a report covering a large number of objects will produce a large file.
The contents of the incident report are:
- General Asset Summary - a list of the selected incidents with details of type of incident and associated assets.
- Individual General Asset Record Cards - there is one card per incident.
To generate a General Asset Report, choose General asset report from the Reports menu.
The Survey Reports provide a summary and detailed information about selected surveys in the network.
Reports are available for the following survey types:
- Manhole Survey
- CCTV Survey
- Smoke Test
- Dye Test
- Drain Test
- Pipe Sample
- Monitoring Survey
- Meter Test
- Hydrant Test
- Leak Detection
- FOG Inspection
- General Survey
- General Survey Line
- Pump Station Survey
- Water Quality Survey
A summary report and a full report containing more detailed information is available for each of the above survey types. A CCTV defect summary report can also be generated.
Full reports contain a summary of surveys in the network, followed by a record card for each survey including a pipe diagram labelled with surveyed defects. Attempting to create a full report covering a large number of objects will produce a large file and may take a long time. Alternatively, a report containing the summary details only may be produced.
A CCTV pipeline view report displaying the pipe diagram labelled with surveyed defects and comments can also be produced.
To generate a Survey Report, choose an option from the Reports | Survey reports menu.
The Repair Reports provide a summary and detailed information about selected repair and maintenance activity objects in the network.
Report are available for the following repair and maintenance activity types:
- Pipe Repair
- Manhole Repair
- Pipe Clean
- General Maintenance
- Valve Maintenance
- Meter Maintenance
- Hydrant Maintenance
- Pump Station Electrical Maintenance
- Pump Station Mechanical Maintenance

Full reports contain a summary of repairs in the network, followed by a record card for each repair. Attempting to create a full report covering a large number of objects will produce a large file and may take a long time. Alternatively, a report containing the summary details only may be produced.
To generate a Repair Report, choose an option from the Reports | Repair reports menu.
The custom table report is a customised report on a selection of objects (of the same type) in the network. The custom table report can be used to generate reports for User Defined Objects in the network.
To generate a Custom Table Report choose Custom table report from the Reports menu.
InfoAsset Manager will check the report template folders (specified in the Report Options Dialog) for files or folders matching the table name or description of network object tables in the network. The files/folders found will be displayed in the Custom Table Report Chooser Dialog.
Select an entry from the list in the chooser dialog and click OK to generate the report.
The Depreciation Report provides a summary of the depreciation costs which will be incurred from the network assets over a specified reporting year. For a depreciation report to be generated, each asset needs information on its installation date, expected lifetime, and installation cost. The cost in a given reporting year will be the installation cost divided by its expected lifetime. Once an asset has exceeded its expected lifetime, no further costs are incurred. Where details are not available, installation costs and lifetimes can be estimated for reporting purposes by using a Cost Estimator.
To generate a Depreciation Cost Report, choose Depreciation cost report from the Reports menu.
The Rehabilitation Report gives an alternative method of estimating network asset costs. In this report, the only assets that contribute to costs are those which have a condition grade worse than that specified in the report dialog. This allows costs to be estimated according to the costs of maintaining assets at an agreed condition level.
The condition level to be used is specified in the report dialog (the default grade is 3). Assets with higher grade will incur costs according to the value specified in the rehabilitation cost field. Where rehabilitation costs are not known in detail, a Cost Estimator is used to generate suitable values for the report. It is assumed that the rehabilitation costs are the cost of returning the asset from an unacceptable condition to the condition specified by the organisation as acceptable. Obviously assumptions on how this cost should be derived vary widely according to organisation and the actual network assets.
To generate a Rehabilitation Cost Report, choose Rehabilitation cost report from the Reports menu.
The inventory report contains inventory details for all the materials available in the network or a selection of materials, such as last inventory date, number at inventory, number of items used and task count for the selected period and estimated inventory at the report date. The Ignored due to lack of date section is added to the report if any task without date (started or completed date) or order without date (delivered date or expected date) have been identified. The figures for these allocated and/ or delivered materials related to these tasks / orders are highlighted in red on the report.
Materials requiring re-ordering, or for which there is a supply problem are also highlighted in red. The red question mark that may appear in the Re-order? columns indicates that no re-order threshold has been entered.
The report can enclose graphs showing the inventory usage for every material over the selected period (re-order threshold line is coloured in red) and can be used as a tool to predict when materials need re-ordering.
To generate an Inventory Report:
- Select Inventory report from the Reports menu.
- The Inventory Report dialog is displayed.
- Select a date for the inventory estimation.
- Specify if the report is to be generated for selected materials only and if graphs are to be included in the report.
- Click on OK.
You can automatically export data from all, or a selected part, of a network to Microsoft Excel. This export process used a Custom Report template that is stored in the database. You can edit the underlying template in Microsoft Excel. This allows you to do any sort of analysis on your data that is supported by Excel.
In order to use this functionality, you must have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer.
