Hydrant Tests
Hydrant Tests are used to check the flow capability of installed hydrants.
Hydrant Tests can be:
- created as scheduled tasks. Please refer to the Digitising Network Objects and Scheduled Tasks topics for further information.
- entered manually in the Hydrant Test Grid View in the Survey Grid. Please refer to the Digitising Network Objects topic for further information.
- imported using the Open Data Import Centre.
Hydrant Tests can also be viewed and edited from the Hydrant Test Grid View in the Survey Grid .
Validation is available to ensure that Hydrant Test data is consistent with the network. Checks are made that the associated hydrant exists in the network.
The coordinates of the Hydrant Test may be defaulted, in which case the associated hydrant coordinates will be used.
Reports providing a summary and detailed information about selected tests in the network are available. See the Survey Reports topic for further information.
Use the Navigate | To Related Objects () toolbar option from the Hydrant Test Survey tabbed Property Sheet or the Object Properties Window to open the Property Sheets for the associated hydrants, resources or materials.
Alternatively launch the Object Browser Window to displays object relationships and manage related objects.
Fire Flow Calculations
Flow and water used values can be calculated by InfoAsset Manager provided adequate data has been entered for the Hydrant Test object.
The Flow and Water Used fields in the Flow Hydrants grid of the Hydrant Test Property Sheet can be calculated by InfoAsset Manager using the following methods:
- Click the Calculate flow and water used button on the Flow Hydrants page/section of the Property Sheet
- Select the Calculate hydrant test flow option from the Network menu
If a value is already present in the Flow or Water Used fields, a warning message will be displayed before any updates are made.
The value of Flow for a Flow Hydrant is calculated using the following equation:
Where parameters are taken from other fields in the Flow Hydrants grid:
Qr = residual flow at pitot pressure (gpm)
c = Coefficient
d = Diameter (in)
Pp = Pitot Pressure (psi)
The value of Water Used for a Flow Hydrant is calculated as the Flush Time for the hydrant multiplied by the Flow.
The Flow and Calculated flow fields on the Graph details section / page of the Hydrant Test Property Sheet are calculated by InfoAsset Manager when the #D flag is applied to these fields.
The Flow field value is calculated as the sum of the Flow field values in the Flow Hydrants grid.
The Calculated flow value is calculated using the following equation:
Where:
Qf = fire flow at 20 psi (gpm)
Qr = residual Flow at pitot pressure (gpm)
Ps = Static Pressure (psi)
Pr = Residual Pressure (psi)
