Conveyance Data Editor
The Conveyance Data editor is used to view and edit river reach conveyance data.
InfoWorks ICM calculates the conveyance (carrying capacity) values of a river based on the geometrical properties of river cross-sections. However, it is possible to change the conveyance value at a given depth as well as the corresponding area, width and wetted parameter values, by copying the calculated values to user-defined values, which you can subsequently edit. Alternatively, you can type-in the user-defined values if preferred.
If user-defined values exist for a river reach, then InfoWorks ICM uses these values rather than the calculated ones.
The editor is displayed when you click on the button in the Conveyance data field on the river reach property sheet.
Sections
A list of cross-sections which comprise the river reach are displayed in this pane. Any sections that have user-defined conveyance values are highlighted in bold.
Click on a section in the list and its conveyance data is displayed in the Calculated and, if specified, the User-defined tables, and plotted on the graph.
Conveyance
There are two tables; the Calculated table, which contains the read-only conveyance values calculated by InfoWorks ICM for the selected river reach section, and the User-defined table. The fields which comprise these tables are described in the River Reach Data Fields topic.
Any user-defined values which have been previously defined are displayed in the User-defined table when a river reach section is selected in the Sections list. The values in the Calculated table cannot be edited but it is possible to add or modify the values in the User-defined table.
Buttons
Click on:
- Copy -> - to copy the all values in the Calculated table to the User-defined table.
- Delete -> - to delete all the values in the User-defined table. When selected, a warning message is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion.
- OK - to save any changes to the values in the User-defined table, and close the editor.
- Cancel - to cancel the operation and close the editor.
Graph
The conveyance graph shows the calculated, and if specified, the user-defined conveyance values plotted against depth. Right click on the graph to display a context menu that includes the following options:
- Show Axis - a toggle option which turns the display of the axis on or off.
- Show Points - a toggle option which turns the display of the grid points on or off.
- Show Ground Model - displays a trace of the ground model elevation (if a ground model is loaded onto the GeoPlan).
- Zoom in - enables you to zoom-in on an area of the graph. The cursor changes to which you can drag to create a box around the area you wish to magnify on the grid.
- Zoom out - enables you to zoom-out. The cursor changes to . Click once on the graph to zoom out by a fixed amount. This option is only enabled after you have zoomed-in on the graph.
- Pan - enables you to pan across the graph. The cursor changes to a . Click and then hold the left mouse button down; drag the cursor across the view and release the mouse button to move the graph in relation to the view. This option is only enabled after you have zoomed-in on the graph.
- Print - prints the graph. A standard Print window is displayed into which you can specify the required printer information.
- Copy - copies the graph to the Windows® clipboard.
- Properties - displays the Graph Properties dialog, which you can use to change the appearance of the graph.
- Export Traces to CSV - exports the user-defined values to a CSV file. A standard Save As window is displayed into which you can specify a name and location for the file.
- Print Data Sheet - prints the graph and the user-defined table. A standard Print window is displayed into which you can specify the required printer information.
Adding user-defined conveyance data
To add user-defined conveyance data by copying calculated values:
- Click on the Copy -> button to copy the all values in theCalculated table to the User-defined table.
- Edit the values in the user-defined table as required. Ensure that:
- all rows contain both a Depth (m) and a Conveyance (m3/s) value.
-
the values for an Area (m2), Width (m) or Perimeter (m) in a row is not lower than the value in the previous row. A value may be unchanged in comparison to the previous one but it cannot decrease.
- if the table contains any rows with an Area (m2), Width (m) or Perimeter (m) defined, then all rows must contain an entry for the Area (m2), Width (m) or Perimeter (m). However, the value can be 0.
- Click OK to save the user-defined conveyance data.
Alternatively, you can type the values directly into the User-defined table. Note that the same 'rules' apply as when editing the copied values as described previously in Step 2.
Deleting user-defined conveyance data
Entries in the User-defined table can be deleted in the usual way, such as, double-clicking on a cell, row or column and pressing the Delete or Backspace key. Or you can use the Delete -> button to delete the entire content of the User-defined table. A warning message is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion. Select OK to delete all the user-defined values from the table.
