Runoff Only Simulations

A runoff only simulation carries out the rainfall runoff calculations for a model. You can choose whether runoff only simulations are performed for a whole run, to warm-up the model, or between episodes in an episode collection. When you choose to perform runoff calculations for a whole run or between episodes (when no episode collection is specified), no hydraulic calculations are performed so these simulations are extremely quick.

Runoff only simulations can be used as an aid for the calibration of runoff values. Runoff only simulations are very fast, so a large number of runs can be carried out to help match model runoff to observed conditions. The calibrated runoff model can then be used in full hydraulic simulations.

Performing a Runoff Only Simulation

The process for runoff only simulations is identical to that for a normal hydraulic simulation, except that the Simulate runoff only box must be checked on the Schedule Hydraulic Run View, and the appropriate option, which determines when these simulations are to be performed, must be selected in the adjacent field.
