Updating from CSV data

You can update networks using data from CSV filesComma Separated Variable file format is a standard file format that can be imported and exported by many software packages. Many types of data can be imported and exported using csv format by InfoWorks.. As well as updating network objects, you can also add new network objects and delete existing objects. The files have to be in an appropriate format and may need specific filenames. Further details on format requirements can be found in CSV file formats.

  1. With a checked out network open in the GeoPlan window, choose Update from CSV Files from the Network menu, or right-click a checked out network and choose Update from CSV Files from the context menu.

    If the network you are updating has more than one scenario, you are prompted to choose a scenario from the Select Scenario dialog.

    The Import / Update From CSV Data dialog is then displayed.

  2. Choose the options you require from the Import / Update CSV Data dialog. (Press F1 for help.)
  3. Click OK to continue. This displays a standard Windows open dialog.
  4. Choose one or more CSV files with which to update the network, then click Open.

    The next thing that happens is the same standard Windows open dialog is displayed to give you an opportunity to add more files to the update. This means you can choose files from different directories.

  5. Continue choosing files and clicking Open until you have selected all your files.
  6. To stop selecting files, click Cancel on the standard Windows open dialog.

Finally, a report is displayed, listing the results of the update.
