Creating a database object within a group

Some database objects are added to a model group or the groups within it automatically as data is created. The procedure below applies to subgroup types that you can add database objects to directly. For these subgroup types, you can usually open the database object from the model tree and add data through a form or grid.

To create a database object within a subgroup:

  1. From the Explorer window or Model Group window, right-click the group to which you want to add a database object.
  2. Choose New.
  3. Choose the type of database item that you want to create. Don't choose a Group item unless you want to add a subgroup beneath a subgroup.

The New Name dialog is displayed with a suggested name for the new database item.

  4. If required, change the name.
  5. Click OK.

The database item is added to the tree in the Model Group window and the Explorer window.

You can create more than one database item of the same type. Don't attempt to give the same name to more than one database item within a subgroup.
