Exporting results to ESRI ArcView format

You may want to create a copy of the network with results in ESRI ArcView (SHP) file format. This could be used to send files to another user, or for conversion to a different GIS package not supported by InfoWorks WS Pro.

There are two types of result that can be exported:

Maximum results

To export maximum results to ESRI ArcView format:

  1. Right-click the simulation results in the Model Group window or Explorer window.
  2. Choose Export | Maximum SHP from the context menu.

This will display a standard Select Folder dialog.

Note: The files are exported using standard filenames, which you cannot change. If you export to a directory where you have already exported a network with results, files will be overwritten.

  3. Choose the destination directory you require.

The GIS Export dialog is displayed.

  4. Select whether to export using InfoWorks WS Pro native units or current user units.
  5. To continue, click OK.

The files are now exported. Dialogs will be displayed to show you how the export of each type of object is progressing. A series of trios of files with SHP, SHX and DBF extensions are created.

Results at a specific timestep

To export results at a specific timestep to ESRI ArcView format:

  1. Right-click the simulation results in the Model Group window or Explorer window.
  2. Choose Export | Time varying SHP from the context menu.

The Set Timestep dialog is displayed.

  6. Choose the timestep for which you want to export results.
  7. Click OK to continue.

The files are now exported. Dialogs will be displayed to show you how the export of each type of object is progressing. A series of trios of files with SHP,SHX and DBF extensions are created in a sub directory (named as the timestep exported) under the destination directory.
