Importing and Exporting TIN Ground Models
TIN Ground Models can be imported from different formats and exported to InfoWorks WS Pro standard (.IIM) format.
Importing a TIN Ground Model
TIN ground model files can be imported into InfoWorks WS Pro in several different formats:
- Arc/Info ungenerated TIN format (.NET)
- ESRI Shapefile format (.SHP)
- InfoWorks WS Pro Native TIN format (.IIM)
When importing the ArcView or Arc/Info format files, they are first converted to the InfoWorks WS Pro native format, and then imported into the master database.
The ground model must be imported into an existing ground model group in InfoWorks WS Pro. See Creating Groups for more on creating a ground model group.
To import a ground model file:
- In the InfoWorks WS Pro Explorer or Model Group window, right-click the TIN ground model group.
- Select Import | InfoWorks WS Pro Ground Model File or Import | Arc/Info TIN File or Import | SHP Ground Model Files from the pop-up menu.
- Select the file to be imported.
- Click Open to import the file into the group.
Because ground model files can be quite large, the import process may take some time. Once the file has been imported, you can open your ground model in the GeoPlan Window.
Exporting a TIN Ground Model
TIN ground models can be exported in the InfoWorks WS Pro standard (.IIM) format. This file format cannot be edited, but you can use the IIM file for import into a different database or model.
To export a ground model:
- In the InfoWorks WS Pro Explorer or Model Group window, right-click the ground model and choose Export from the context menu
- choose a location for the exported file, change the filename if you want, and click Save.
InfoWorks WS Pro saves the ground model into the IIM file. Because ground models can be quite large, this operation may take some time.
