Viewing the history of an asset

Assets may be represented in the network by a single network object or multiple objects. The Asset ID field of a network object is used to specify the asset that an object(s) represents.

The differences between checked in network versions of a single asset can be viewed from the property sheet of a network object:

1. Open the property sheet for the object(s) representing the asset.
2. Click the Asset History button at the bottom of the property sheet. This displays the Asset History dialog.

The Asset History dialog displays a report of the history of checked in changes for an asset in order, from earliest to latest version of the network.

The Asset History dialog displays a report of the checked in differences of the asset (specified in the Asset ID field) associated with the current network object. The Asset History dialog does not display the history of the object; if the current network object does not have an Asset ID, a history cannot be displayed.

Points to consider when viewing the history of an asset:

• An asset is made up of all network objects of the same type that have the same Asset ID. Different object types with the same Asset ID value are considered to be different assets.
• Information on all of the objects that make up the asset will be displayed in the history.
• Only checked in changes are displayed. If viewing a history from a checked out network, any changes made in the current network will not be included.
• For objects that have the same Asset ID in the current network and the parent network of the current network:
• a field by field comparison for the object will be made and any differences will be reported.
• If the number of objects that have the same Asset ID in the current network is different in the parent network:
• any objects that have been added to the asset will be reported as created.
• any objects that have been removed from the asset will be reported as deleted.
