Updating nominal pressures

Nominal pressures are defined in the Nominal Pressure data field, which can be viewed and edited in the Node grid view of the Nodes grid, or the Node Demand page of the Node property sheet. These values are used for pressure related demand simulations. The Nominal Pressure data field can be updated automatically for all nodes in the network from results of a previous simulation.

To update the network from a simulation:

  1. Check out the network to be updated and open it.

Updates will take place in the current network.

  2. Choose Network | Update nominal pressures..

This will display the Database item selection dialog.

  3. Choose the appropriate simulation results from which the Nominal Pressure data field is to be populated.

Note: If a simulation using the same network but with different parameters is chosen, no error or warning messages will appear. This may occur if the chosen simulation used a network from another branch of the tree, or from a long way back in the model building process. All updates will take place. Be very careful to use the correct simulation. We would expect the simulation to use the parent network of the one to be updated.

To check that the update has been successful, carry out a network comparison to see a report of exactly what changes have been made between this network and its parent. Alternatively, choose Selection | Select changed to highlight all network objects that have changed between this network and its parent. This will display the Select Changed Objects dialog.

Both these operations assume that no changes have been made other than updating the nominal pressure from the simulation.
