Asset Group
The data in the database is organised into a flexible hierarchy, which groups the elements of the database into manageable units.
The top level of the database hierarchy is either a Group or a Asset Group. All other database items reside within a
Asset Groups may be used to:
- Represent main divisions within the database at the top level of the organisation. The group may be used to define an area of work. For example, it may contain data associated with a particular client.
- Create additional levels within the database hierarchy by defining subsidiary groups within a top level group. For example, if the group represents a client then this may contain a lower level group for each major project with that client.
- Group database items by type. For example, if the group represents a project, then this may contain lower level groups for storing
The Asset Group and its contents are managed using the Explorer Window.
Creating an asset group
To create a Asset group:
- Right-click a Database in the Explorer Window or a Group.
- Select New | Asset group from the popup menu. The New Database Item dialog is displayed.
- In the New Name Asset Group dialog, type a name for the Asset group or accept the default name.
- Click OK to create the group.
Applying asset group items to the network
Many of the database items within asset groups can be applied to the network by dragging and dropping the item from the Explorer Window onto the GeoPlan Window.
