Properties Dialog
Each item within the database has properties. When you right-click on the item and choose Properties from the popup menu, this dialog is displayed.
(Note that if you select the Properties menu item for the database itself, the About Box will be displayed.)
The dialog has pages displaying:
- Object Page
General object properties
- Layer List Page
The Layer List Page is only displayed on the Properties Dialog when you right click on a Layer List and choose Properties from the popup menu. It shows which layers are contained in the Layer List, and which map component the layers work with.
- Description Page
A description of the item. It is editable for most items.
- Owners Page
- Hyperlinks Page
Details of any hyperlinks for the object
This page is only shown if the two following conditions are met:
• User permissions have been activated. See User Permissions for more details.
• You are viewing the Properties of a Asset Group.
The page lists users who are Owners of the Asset Group. Owners have administrative rights over the Asset group.
A database owner can choose to apply User Permissions to a database, and appoint Owners for Asset groups in the database. With permissions in force, Owners can carry out all operations on a Asset group. Other users can only view data in the Asset group.
The properties dialog of a "child" Asset group will only display owners that have been specifically appointed to that group and will not display owners of parent groups. For example, if parent Asset Group A with owner 'user1' has a sub Asset Group B, 'user1' will only appear in the properties dialog for A although 'user1' will also have full edit powers over B.
For full details on user management, see User Permissions.
