Help Shortcut Menu Commands

There are popup menus containing shortcut commands available on the Topic Pane, the Table of Contents (or Contents) Tab and the Favourites Tab. Display the popup menu by clicking with the right mouse button.

These menu commands can be accessed through the keyboard. You can press SHIFT+F10 to display the popup menu and then press the appropriate shortcut key. The shortcut key for each menu item is the letter that is underlined. Shortcut keys are not case sensitive.

The following useful options are available from the Topic Pane popup menu.

  • Back- navigate back through the recently visited topics list
  • Forward- if you have just used the back button, you can move forward again through the recently visited topics list
  • Select All- select all the material in the topic. This is useful of you want to copy and paste content into another application
  • Print...- print the currently displayed topic. See Printing Help Topics.
  • Refresh- refresh the current topic. Only really useful if you are displaying content from a web site or if you want to remove word highlighting following a search.

These options are available on the Table of Contents popup menu.

  • Open All- opens all the books or folders in the Table of Contents so all topic names are displayed
  • Close All- closes all the books or folders in the Table of Contents
  • Print... - you are given the option to print the topic, or the topic and all its sub-topics.
    Warning

    It is not recommended to print Help topics or sub-topics via the Table of Contents as it does not behave the way you would expect. Instead, we advise the use of the Print button of the HTML toolbar or the Print Current Topic icon from the WebHelp toolbar (see Help Toolbar for more information about these two distinct toolbars).

  • Jump to URL...- you can enter the URL of a website in the dialog box if you want to view it in the help window. Remember to include http://before the address.

The menu repeats the options available on the buttons.

  • Display- display the highlighted topic (the one on which you right clicked) in the Topic Pane.
  • Add - adds the current topic to the favourites list. The topic name is displayed in the Current Topic box
  • Remove- remove the highlighted topic (the one on which you right clicked)
  • Rename- an additional option that allows you to give a different name to the topic. The default is the topic title.
