Episode Collection

An episode collection is used to store the start and end times of episodes, or events that occur in the system. Episode details are edited and viewed in the Episode Collection Editor.

Episode data may be generated from the following:

Episode collection data can subsequently be used to determine peak values in simulation results/time varying data when carrying out Extreme Value Analysis when generating an Extreme Value Analysis Custom Graph.

In addition, an episode collection can also be used in a run to determine start and end times of events for simulations.

Generating episodes from statistical reports

Episodes can be automatically generated from Statistical report data.

To generate episodes from statistical reports:

The following operations will be carried out:

Note that any episodes previously displayed in the grid will be overwritten.

IMPORTANT

Any changes made to selected statistical reports, lead time, tail time or round time after episodes have been generated are not automatically applied. The Generate episodes button must be clicked again to regenerate episodes using the new parameters.

The graph at the bottom of the editor gives a graphical representation of the episodes in the grid together with the episodes belonging to the selected statistical reports. Selecting a grid row highlights the corresponding episode in the graph and vice versa.

Manually editing episodes

Start and end times in the episode grid of the Episode Collection Editor can be manually edited.

To remove an episode, highlight the row and press the DELETE key or right click on the row and select Delete Row from the context menu.

To add an episode, enter a start and end time in the append row of the grid.

Click the Sort button to sort entries in the grid in chronological order.

Click the Merge overlapping button to combine overlapping episodes in the grid into a single episode entry.

Note that generating episodes from statistical reports or importing episodes from CSV file will overwrite any existing episodes in the grid.

Importing episodes

Episode start and end time pairs can be imported from a csv file.
