Export to Snapshot File
A snapshot file can be used to share data with other users who do not have access to the master database. These users can edit the network and their changes can then be incorporated back into the original. For example, you might:
- Send a copy of the network to a colleague or consultant.
- Take a copy of the network into the field or to another office on a laptop.
A network cannot be exported to a snapshot until all outstanding changes have been committed to the master database.
To export a snapshot:
- Display the Export Snapshot dialog using one of the following options:
-
Right-click on the network in the Explorer window and select Export | to Snapshot from the popup menu. The Select Network Version and Scenario dialog will appear with the name of the network displayed in the InfoWorks or SWMM network box:
- Click # to select which version of the network is to be exported.
- Click OK, and the Export Snapshot dialog is displayed.
- With a network open select Export | Snapshot file from the Network menu. (The latest version of the network will be exported.) This displays the Export Snapshot dialog.
- On the Export Snapshot dialog:
- Choose whether to export a copy of all the data (for the entire network or currently selected objects) or to export changes since a previous version of the network.
- Select the object types to be exported.
- Choose whether to import image files, video files and/or other attachment files (may significantly increase the size of the snapshot).
- Click Export. This displays a standard Windows File Save dialog.
- Choose where to save the Snapshot file, give it a name, and click Save.
The extension of the exported snapshot file depends on the type of network being exported:
- Model Networks have an extension of .isfm
- Collection Networks have an extension of .isfc
- Distribution Networks have an extension of .isfd
- Asset Networks have an extension of .isfa
