Saving Custom Labels
The current set of custom labels on the GeoPlan Window or the Long Section Window can be saved in a Label List.
Label Lists are slightly different to most other database
items. You cannot create an empty Label List using the
The saved Label List can be applied to a network or long section. You may wish to apply:
- GeoPlan Window Labels to the same network, or to a different version of the network
- Long Section Window Labels to a view of the same long section, or to a Long Section Window containing all or part of the long section for which the label list has been saved
The information saved in a Label List includes:
- which objects are displaying labels
- the label location
- formatting of Custom Labels
The data fields displayed on Custom Labels in the GeoPlan Window are determined by the current Custom Label Settings.
Just like any other database item you could also copy Label Lists between databases.
- Create one or more labels on the GeoPlan Window or the Long Section Window
- You need to have a Label List group before being able to create and save a Label List.
- Right click on the Label List group and choose New from the popup menu.
- Set a name for the new Label List. The current label setup on the GeoPlan or Long Section Window (depending on which one is the active View) is automatically saved in the new Label List.
GeoPlan Window and Long Section Window Label Lists are differentiated by icon colour: yellow for GeoPlan label lists and lilac for Long Section label lists.
Saved label information can be applied to a network, by dragging a Label List onto the GeoPlan Window.
To apply more than one Label List to a network, highlight multiple Label Lists in the explorer window by using the SHIFT or CTRL keys.
Only one Custom Label can be applied per network object. If more than one selected Label List has Custom Label information for an object, only one label will be displayed.
Saved Long Section Label information can be applied to a long section by dragging a Label List onto the Long Section Window. The label will be displayed if it falls within the axes of the current long section.
