Customising the Toolbars
The toolbars displayed at the top of the InfoWorks ICM window can be customised by changing their contents, position and visibility. It is also possible to add and modify user-defined toolbars.
To move a toolbar:
- Click and drag the gripper bar (the four little "bullets" on the left of the toolbar) and drag the toolbar to a new position. (If the gripper bar is not visible, it can be turned on from the Toolbars page of the Customise dialog.)
- Drag the toolbar into the centre of the InfoWorks ICM window to create a floating window, which can be moved elsewhere by dragging its title bar.
- Drag the toolbar or floating toolbar to an edge of the InfoWorks ICM window to dock it at the side, top or bottom of the window.
To hide / display a toolbar:
- Select Customise toolbars from the Tools menu. The Customise dialog is displayed.
- On the Toolbars page, check the box to the left of the toolbar name (check the box to make the toolbar visible, uncheck the box to hide the toolbar).
- Click OK.
If the toolbar is floating it can be hidden by clicking its Close button.
To lock the toolbars to their current positions on the InfoWorks ICM main window:
- Ensure that the currently selected toolbars are in the required positions in the window.
- Select Customise toolbars from the Tools menu. The Customise dialog is displayed.
- Check Lock positions.
- Click OK.
This does not prevent the position of the toolbars from being automatically changed if the main window is resized significantly or if InfoWorks ICM is opened on a screen with a very different resolution. If this occurs, uncheck this option, re-position the toolbars and then check this option again. Alternatively, select the Reset toolbars and windows option from the Tools Menu.
Some of the less commonly used toolbars, that are applicable to certain types of view, are normally hidden. By default these toolbars are displayed / hidden as the appropriate view is opened / closed:
- Replay Control Toolbar - displayed with simulation views
- 3D Navigation Toolbar - displayed with 3D Network Window and 3D Manhole Window
- GeoExplorer Toolbar - displayed with GeoExplorer Window
If the toolbar is closed via the Customise dialog when the view is opened, it will remain closed at all times.
If the toolbar is displayed when the view is not visible it will be displayed at all times.
To change the appearance of a toolbar:
- Select Customise toolbars from the Tools menu. The Customise dialog is displayed.

The contents of the InfoWorks ICM toolbars can be restored to their original state (before the Customise dialog was opened) by using the Reset and Reset All buttons on the Toolbars page.
To restore the contents of all InfoWorks ICM toolbars to their default settings, select the Reset Toolbar Buttons option from the Tools Menu. (The application must be restarted for the changes to take effect.)
To create a user-defined toolbar:
- Select Customise toolbars from the Tools menu. The Customise dialog is displayed.
- On the Toolbars, page, click New Toolbar. The new toolbar will appear as a small floating window.
- Select the Commands page. To add a button to the new toolbar, select the button from the Commands box and drag it from the dialog to the toolbar.
- Click OK when the toolbar is complete.
The new toolbar can be modified in the same way as any other toolbar. In addition, the name of a user-defined toolbar can be edited and the toolbar itself can be deleted using options on the Toolbars page.
