Selecting Network Objects on the GeoPlan

The simplest way to select network objects on the GeoPlan View is by clicking. If you choose the select tool on the GeoPlan Tools Toolbar and then click on an object, the object is shown in red.

Tip

Only network objects contained in selectable object layers will be available for selection when using the Select tool tool.

If you hold down the CTRL key you can add other objects to the selection by clicking on them. Clicking on an object a second time with CTRL held down removes it from the selection. You may need to zoom in on the area of interest before attempting to select objects.

You can also select all network objects within an area using the polygon select tool on the GeoPlan Tools Toolbar. When you choose the tool the cursor changes to a cross. Single click to start creating the selection area. The cursor is now connected to the point where you clicked with a red line. Continue to single click to build up the selection region. Double click to link to the starting point and close the region. A network object is selected if its centre point falls within the region.

You can continue to adjust a selection made by any of the methods described by using the select tool , holding down the CTRL key, and clicking on individual network objects as described above.

The colour used to highlight selected objects can be changed in the GeoPlan Properties Dialog - Visual Page. (Note that a highlight colour can also be set that will be used to momentarily highlight objects when the object's properties are viewed in the Object Properties Window.)

Global selection tools

There are three tools available for globally selecting and de-selecting objects.

Selecting all objects

Select all objects in the network by clicking on the button on the Selection Toolbar. This selects everything - not just the visible network objects but also those that are not displayed such as headloss curves.

To de-select all objects in the network, click on the button on the Selection Toolbar.

Inverting the current selection

Use the button on the Selection Toolbar to invert the current selection. Currently selected objects will be de-selected; all objects that are not currently selected form the new selection.

This inversion also applies to the network objects that are not explicitly shown on the GeoPlan Window, such as headloss curves.
