About layer lists

You can load additional map layers on the GeoPlan window to display all types of geographical information such as roads and buildings, surveyed maps, or even aerial photographs.

Layer lists provide a way of saving a set of additional layers as an object in the master database so they can be easily reloaded with a different version of your model. For example, you might want to create a set of stock layers providing general information about the entire area covered by your organisation's modelling work, and load these with every model.

The layer list stores only the path and filename to the file containing the map layer. You must therefore ensure that the files themselves remain in the location specified, or InfoWorks WS Pro will be unable to reload them.

Also, if you want other users to make use of these layer lists, the path to the files must be the same from whatever computer they are working on. In other words, to share layer lists, the map files should really be on a network drive.

Note

If a map layer file is in, or below, either the working folder or the remote data root directory, InfoWorks WS Pro stores the file path relative to that directory.
