About time series data files
Time Series Data files are a set of ASCII files that store a series of time varying values at specific locations. The format has been developed to provide a flexible way of storing large quantities of time series data from different sources so that the data can be imported into InfoWorks.
The files provide a simple, flexible and consistent file format for export from different data stores, such as telemetry and logger systems.
Each Time Series Data store or set of files includes:
- One TSD file - containing a number of unique keys with associated metadata (file extension .tsd)
- Many DAT files - containing a series of key-value records at points in time (file extension .dat)
The keys in the TSD file are used to relate information such as location, data type and units to the values in the DAT files.
Figure 1 below shows the file and folder structure. For each TSD file there is a sub-folder with the same name (without the .tsd extension). The associated DAT files are stored in this sub-folder.

The format is an on-going project and is subject to change in the future. So it is essential that you Contact Innovyze before starting to use the format.
