Adding and editing live data
Live Data can come from logger flat files or telemetry feeds, and is specified in the Live Data Configuration object in InfoWorks WS Pro.
The following Live Data file formats are supported in InfoWorks:
- The special format used by Spectralog loggers.
- The ASCII Wisdom format exported using the Wisdom32 software package.
- The special format used by Wessex loggers. These files usually have a .RCD or a .DAT extension and they are binary so it is not possible to show a screenshot of one of them using a text editor.
- Generic Standard Logger Interface (SLI) files. These are used by a number of other types of logger, such as Radcom and Technolog. You can also create SLI files manually for use within the software. SLI files have a .PRN or a .TXT extension.
- Generic TSD data - another ASCII data file format
- The SWC format. File extension is .SWC.
Live Data is stored in the existing logger data file, and is not directly imported into InfoWorks. The Live Data Configuration provides the link between the InfoWorks model and the logger data files.
Telemetry feeds are stored in databases (supported databases types can be found in the Live Data Logon View topic) and are specified in the Live Data Feed View of the Live Data Configuration object. Connection to telemetry databases is defined in the Live Data Logon View.
To add a new logger data file to a Live Data Configuration:
- Add a new row to the grid by editing the append row by one of the following methods:
- Right click in the append row, select the Add live data file context menu option. Then select the logger data file from the Windows Open dialog that gets displayed.
- Enter the Live Data Point ID and the path and filename of the logger data file in the Source File field.
Sensor Level, Offset and Factor information can be entered in the Live Data Point View or in the Live Data Point Property Sheet.
A logger data file can also be added to the Live Data Configuration using drag and drop directly from the Windows Explorer:
- Open Windows Explorer and change directory to the location of the logger data file
- Make sure that your Live Data Configuration is open and visible in InfoWorks and that you can see both Windows Explorer and the Live Data Point View at the same time
- Drag the logger file from Windows Explorer and drop it on the Live Data Point View. A new record will be created and details filled in on the grid from the logger file
It is possible to add several logger data files at the same time when using the drag and drop method.
Adding a new live data feed to a Live Data Configuration is done via the Live Data Point View:
- Right click in the append row and select the Add live data feed context menu option.
- Select one or more feeds from the Choose Telemetry Point dialog that gets displayed. To select all available feeds, enable the Select All option.
- Click OK to commit the changes and close the dialog.
- In the Live Data Point View, a new row has been added for the feed:
- Live Data Point ID contains the feed name.
- Data Source has been automatically set to LDF (Live Data Feed).
- The Source File field is blank and disabled.
Offset and Factor information can be entered in the Live Data Feed View.
The Offset and Factor fields present in the Live Data Point View and the Live Data Point Property Sheet apply to Live Data Files only, and will be disabled for Live Data Feeds.
To delete one or more feeds or logger data files from a Live Data Configuration:
- Select the row(s) containing the reference to the feed(s) / logger data file(s)
- Press the delete keysNote
Deleting the reference to the feed / logger data file in the Live Data Configuration does not delete the feed / logger data file itself.
When connecting to Info360, users can manually enter data in the Live Data Configuration object or automatically update it with data from the Info360 database.
See Connecting to Info360 telemetry for further details.
