Using live data flags
Information indicating the reliability or quality of each logged measurement (good, poor, missing, etc.) may be included in a data logger file using the time series data file format.
This information can be displayed when graphing live data. To display the quality information, a set of flags must first be defined for the live data configuration.
Setting default live data flags
- As an Administrator, select File | Master database settings | Live data flags.
The Live Data Flags dialog will be displayed.
- In the Value column, enter the flag number (as in the logger file).
- In the Colour column, select the colour of the flag that will be displayed in graphs.
- In the Description column, enter a description of what the flag indicates.
- In the Treat As Missing column, check the box to ignore data points with the current flag when graphing.
Flags defined in this way will be applied to live data configurations by default. These defaults can be overridden locally by setting live data flags for the current live data.
Setting live data flags for the current live data
Flags defined using this method will apply to the current live data and will override the default flags.
- Select File | Master database settings | Live data flags.
Importing and exporting flags
- To export flags to a CSV fileComma Separated Variable file format is a standard file format that can be imported and exported by many software packages. Many types of data can be imported and exported using csv format by InfoWorks., click the Export button. A standard File Save dialog is displayed. Choose where the flag data is to be saved.
- To import data flags stored in a CSV file, click the Import button. A standard File Open dialog is displayed. Select the file containing flag data. All existing flag data will be overwritten on import.
Displaying live data flags on graphs
- Right-click the graph view and select Graph properties from the context menu.
- On the General
page of the Graph Properties dialog, select the Show
All option in the Flag Bars section.
Flag information for each trace will be displayed as a bar running parallel to the x-axis. The bar is coloured according to the colours set in the Live Data Flags dialog.
Data points in the live data that have been flagged as Treat as missing in the Live Data Flags dialog will not be displayed in the graph view, regardless of whether flags are currently displayed.
