Smoke Defect Observation Data Fields

Distance along pipe

Distance of Smoke Defect Observation from upstream / downstream node (as defined in the Direction field) of surveyed pipe, measured longitudinally along the straight line between pipe connecting nodes.

Used in conjunction with the Distance along pipe and Direction fields to calculate the X and Y coordinates of the Smoke Defect. See Locating Smoke Defects from Distance Measurements for more information.

Distance of Smoke Defect Observation from surveyed pipe, measured perpendicular to the pipe. Positive / Negative values represent distance right / left from the pipe, facing it he direction defined in the Direction field.
