Template Network Dialog

The Template Network dialog allows you to specify which existing InfoWorks network and/or SWMM network is to be used as a template network. All network objects defined in the template network will be automatically inherited by a new network if InfoWorks ICM is instructed to use the template network when a new network is created.

This dialog is displayed when the Template network option is selected from the Tools menu.

Template Network Dialog

The items which comprise this dialog are described in the following table:

Item

Description

InfoWorks network /SWMM network

The name of the network which is to be used as a network template.

You can either drag an existing InfoWorks or SWMM network from the tree view in the Explorer window to the applicable InfoWorks network or SWMM network drop target or you can use the (Browse) button to search for it.

The name of the current template network will be replaced when a new network is dropped into the target box. Any networks which were created using the previous template network will not be affected by the change.

Displays the Select Commit dialog, enabling you to select a particular version of the network.

This button is only enabled when a network has been selected.

Displays the Common Tree Selection dialog, enabling to you to search for a network.

Deletes the network from the InfoWorks network or SWMM network drop target. Any networks which were created using the deleted template network will not be affected by the change.

Latest version

Always use the latest version of the InfoWorks network and SWMM network as the template network, regardless of which version is currently selected.

Every time a network, which is defined as the template network, is updated and committed to the database, any new networks will be based on the latest committed version of the template network. For example, if version 4 is the latest version of the template network and this is subsequently updated and the changes are committed to the database, then a new network, which is to be based on the template network, will be based on version 5 (i.e. the latest version) of the template network.

Selecting the Latest version automatically changes the version of the network in the InfoWorks network and SWMM network drop target to the latest version. Any networks which were created using a previous version of the template network will not be affected by the change.
