UPM River Impact Assessment
When you have set up a UPM river data item and UPM thresholds, you can generate a report containing the spills table and river impact assessment table.
To generate the report:
- Select the UPM River Impact option from the Results menu. The UPM River Impact Assessment dialog is displayed.
- Data for the spills from CSOs is derived from the results of InfoWorks simulations (which must have been run previously). Drag one or more runs or simulations onto the Sim box. All selected simulations must cover the same time period.
- Drag the UPM river data item into the UPM River Data box.
- Enter the number of years of rainfall for which the assessment is to be generated (which must match the length of the rainfall events in the selected simulations) and the number of times the assessment is to be calculated for each simulation. These values determine the number of times the calculations are performed. For example, if the data covers a 40-year period and the Number of River Scenarios per spill event is 10, the system will effectively calculate data for 400 times for each simulation in the Sim box.
- Select Full Year to generate the assessment for all months in the specified years of rainfall. If you are using summer data only, ensure that Part Year is selected, select the month from which the data starts and how many months, inclusive of the starting month, are to be included in the assessment period for each year of rainfall.
- Drag the UPM threshold item into the UPM Threshold box.
- Select the river ecosystem standard and fundamental intermittent standards against which the river is to be assessed.
- Click on the Additional Correction Factors boxes if you want to apply correction factors for temperature or pH to the un-ionised ammonia concentration thresholds or (if the Sustainable Salmonid standard has been selected) for dissolved oxygen concentrations.
- To test the results for initial un-ionised ammonia concentrations, click on Include un-ionised ammonia FIS standards.
- To test the results for downstream dissolved oxygen concentrations and downstream un-ionised ammonia concentrations, click on Include dissolved oxygen FIS standards.
- Select the Impact Duration for which you want to test the concentrations and, for the selected Impact Duration value, select the Return Periods that are required. The Display selections will apply to both un-ionised ammonia and dissolved oxygen concentrations. Note that the more options you select, the longer it will take the system to perform the assessment.
- Click on Produce Reports. The results are calculated and displayed in the UPM River Impact Analysis Results dialog. The data is generated from a random sample for each scenario, using the means and variations entered for the river data item.
