Joining and Splitting Lines
Lines can be joined together or split into multiple objects using a combination of the mouse and keyboard keys.
This functionality can be used on the following line objects:
- General Lines
- Porous Walls
- River Lines (Cross Section Lines and Bank Lines) - InfoWorks networks only
Joining Lines
To join lines manually:
- Click on the Edit Geometry tool ( ) of the GeoPlan Tools Toolbar and select Line in the New Object Type combo box. The cursor changes to .
- Click on the first line you want to join. This will display the existing bend points in the line as red squares.
- Click on the end point of the first line. The cursor changes to when you are close enough to the end point. Holding the mouse down on the vertex, move it to the end point of the second line you want to join.
- When you are close enough to the end point of the second line, the cursor changes to .
- At that point, simultaneously hold down the CTRL and ALT keys of the keyboard and release the mouse button.
- This joins the two lines, and creates a new line segment between the two points if necessary.
Note
If categories have been assigned to the lines, the joined line will be assigned the category of the first line clicked on
Splitting Lines
- Click on the Edit Geometry tool ( ) of the GeoPlan Tools Toolbar and select Line in the New Object Type combo box. The cursor changes to .
- Click on the line you want to split. This will display the existing bend points in the line as red squares.
- Hold down simultaneously the CTRL and ALT keys of the keyboard and click on the line at the exact location you want it split at.
- A new vertex appears at the splitting point and the cursor changes to .
