Static Demand Allocation
A prerequisite for static demand allocation is that a map control is selected for the GeoPlan. See Selecting the map control.
Customer points demand can be allocated to nodes in the network by:
- entering allocation data manually using the Customer Points Grid or the Customer Point Property Sheet
- using the Static Demand Allocation Wizard
- using the Allocate Selected Customer Points button
The Demand Allocation Wizard uses a series of definable rules to allocate demand from customer points to nodes in the network. The allocation process is iterative, so you can repeat the procedure with slightly different rules and view the results each time before deciding what to do next. There are options available to:
- re-allocate data that has previously been allocated from customer points already imported into the network.
- remove all previous demand data from one or more of the demand category types (property based, average or direct) if needed.
- import Customer Point Data for allocation from:
- CSV file
- GIS data file
- GIS layer
After carrying out demand allocation, you can set total connections and highest property level at each node automatically from the customer point data.
For information on customer point data, see the Customer Points section. For a detailed description of the import and allocation process, see the Demand Allocation Wizard section.
Format for Demand Allocation CSV Files
The only fields in the CSV file that must have data in them are the X and Y fields. If there is a Reference field, the Reference should uniquely identify the Customer Point object within the database. Alternatively, InfoWorks can create a reference based on the X and Y values in the data file.
There are no column headers. The columns may be arranged in any order as mapping of the InfoWorks database fields to the CSV fields is defined during the Acquisition phase of the Demand Allocation Process.
An example of the layout of a CSV file to be used for Demand Allocation is given below where the columns are as follows:
- Reference
- X coordinate
- Y coordinate
- Number of properties
