Demand Update Wizard
The Static Demand Update Wizard is used to update demand data imported as Customer Points using data in CSV files. The structure of the CSV file must be known in advance.
The wizard is displayed by selecting Static Demand Update from the Model menu. The Model menu is only visible when there is a network open, and one of the network views is the Current Active WindowThe current Active Window in any Microsoft Windows application has a differently coloured title bar to all the other windows. In the default colour scheme, the active window title bar is blue, all other windows have a grey title bar..
The wizard has two pages:
- Start Page - choose the CSV file containing the updated data
- Acquire Page - map the fields from the import data onto InfoWorks database fields

The Model menu is only visible when there is a network open, and one of the network views is the Current Active WindowThe current Active Window in any Microsoft Windows application has a differently coloured title bar to all the other windows. - Mapping - whether the field is connected to CSV data or not. The two options are None or Use Specified Field->.
- CSV Field -the index number of the field in the CSV data. Field index numbers begin with 1
- The Key field must be mapped. If the Key value does not match a customer point already in the database the record is ignored
- Map other fields in the CSV file, depending on what information it contains. All relevant data must be contained in the CSV file. Changes cannot be made to the imported data before update takes place
- Click Finish when fields have been mapped correctly. InfoWorks now carries out the update process.
Update Process
When Finish is clicked, InfoWorks attempts to update existing Customer Points:
- For any existing customer points that are not allocated, InfoWorks updates the Customer Point table.
- For any points that are allocated, InfoWorks:
- removes demand from the allocated node for that customer point
- updates the Customer Point table
- updates the node with the new demand information
When updating the Customer Point table, InfoWorks always replaces any field where the incoming field is not blank. It is up to the user to ensure that the data that is being imported contains valid values for the fields that are being set.
Changes to the Customer Point table can be viewed in the Customer Points Grid.
