Copying network objects
To copy and paste network objects between networks:
- Create a selection in the origin network.
- Select Edit | Copy object(s).
- In the destination network, select Edit | Paste append object(s).
If there are two objects with the same name when pasting, the software adjusts the name of the pasted object (by adding one or more !s) to make it unique. Connectivity information is also retained for objects pasted at the same time. If an object has to be renamed, all objects that refer to that object are also changed.
When copying pump station or valve objects with associated curves, the option to import the associated curves will be displayed. (Any existing curves will not be overwritten when importing associated curves.)
You cannot paste between two instances of the application, or if you close the software and then re-open it. The data only exists within the current session. It is not placed on the clipboard.
To copy between different databases or different instances of the application, use a transportable database. See Copying between databases.
Refining the selection
There is a tool available to help you refine the selection before copy and paste. This provides options to make your selection more consistent, so you can copy and paste complete sections of networks more easily.
The options allow you to easily include or exclude relevant customer points and spatial data items with the sections of network that you are copying.
- Choose Selection | Refine selection . This displays the Refine Selection dialog.
- Refine the selection using the options on the dialog.
- To complete the refinement, click OK.
You can now copy the objects as described above.
