Warning templates
A warning template is used to state the criteria that define an event, or an occurrence within the network (for example, critical pressure at a node).
Warnings can be assigned different priorities, according to importance to the network. The priority settings available are:
- Background - low priority event
- Important - medium priority event
- Headline - high priority event
The warning template is specified for use in a baseline object. When a run scheduled from the baseline in IWLive Pro is completed, the results are processed and analysed for the occurrence of any events as defined in the template.
Events will trigger a warning in IWLive Pro. The colour scheme to be used to display warnings is set by selecting a warnings theme created in InfoWorks WS Pro or by creating a warnings theme in IWLive Pro.
Creating a warning template
To create a new warning template, a Warning Template group must first be created inside a model group. See Creating groups within a model group and Creating a database object within a group for more information.
Editing warning templates
Warning templates are viewed and edited in the Warning Template grid view. The grid view contains tabs for each network object.
It is possible to exclude objects from a warning template by specifying a selection list to exclude. Refer to the Excluding network objects from warning templates topic for more information.
To open a warning template for editing, right-click the template in the Model Group window or Explorer window and select Open as.
It is advisable to open a GeoPlan with simulation results prior to opening the warning template as the Object ID and Results Field dropdown lists in the grid view will then be populated using values from the current network.
Displaying warnings in the GeoPlan
To display the warnings defined in the warning template graphically in the GeoPlan, the template must be associated with a network with simulation results open.
- Open simulation results in the GeoPlan window.
- Either drag the warning template from the Model Group window and drop it on to the GeoPlan window of the network, or right-click the warning template and select Open.
If the second method is used, and there is more than one network open, the template will be associated with the current network.
The theme defined for the warning will be applied to the network.
