Database object list
This topic describes the individual objects that can be stored in the master database.
Version controlled items reside directly in a model group. Other items are stored in groups of the correct type within the model group.
Version controlled items
Lock method
Icon | Object | Description |
---|---|---|
|
Network |
Networks describe the fixed physical structure of the water supply system. |
|
Control |
Control data defines the time dependent management scheme for the water supply system. |
|
Live Data Configuration |
Live data is observed data about the real water supply system from loggers or telemetry. |
|
Alternative Demand |
Alternative demand enables a set of demand values to be defined for a network without altering the base network. The values defined in an alternative demand used in a simulation will override the base network node and customer point demand. |
Baseline |
The baseline is used to set up a schedule for running simulations in IWLive Pro. |
|
|
Digitisation Template |
The digitisation template stores user defined digitisation defaults for use when creating new network objects. |
|
GeoExplorer |
The GeoExplorer provides a geographic view of the models within the master database. Associated model groups, networks and workspaces can be opened via the GeoExplorer. |
In the lock method, additional information is given by the style of the icon:
- Version controlled items that have been branched are shown with a different colour icon.
- Checked out version controlled items are shown with a thick red border.
- Checked out version controlled items without a local copy are shown with a faded icon.

The GeoExplorer provides a geographic view of the models within the master database. Associated model groups, networks and workspaces can be opened via the GeoExplorer. |
In the merge method, an exclamation mark in the icon denotes that the object has been changed locally and will need to be committed to the database. For example:

|
Model Group |
The top level of organisation. The model group contains networks and other version controlled items, and additional groups within the model group contain other model data, such as model runs, electricity tariffs, or SQL queries. |
|
Run Group |
Contains the simulation runs for a particular modelling exercise. Each run contains the data to control the running of the simulation engine for one or more simulations. Once the simulations are complete, the run gives you access to model results. There are different icon colours for different run types:
Any run made using a checked out network has a thick red border round the icon. The simulation icons are also colour coded to provide more information:
|
Projection Run Group |
Created by IWLive Pro, the Projection Run Group contains projection runs and simulations scheduled by a baseline object. Only normal run types are generated. See Run Group above for further information on colour coding. Note: The icon appears faded in the tree view to indicate that the IWLive Pro Run Info group is a hidden object. |
|
Incident Run Group |
Created by IWLive Pro, the Incident Run Group contains projection and incident runs and simulations created in the IWLive Operator program. Only normal run types are generated. See Run Group above for further information on colour coding. Note: The icon appears faded in the tree view to indicate that the IWLive Pro Run Info group is a hidden object. |
|
|
Custom Report Group |
A custom report is a customised Microsoft Excel report template. You can use this to generate your own reports on the data in your InfoWorks WS Pro database. Custom reports use this icon |
|
Demand Diagram Group |
Contains demand diagrams, which describe the pattern of demand for a particular model. Demand diagrams use this icon |
|
Demand Scaling Group |
A Demand Scaling object applies scale factors to the demand for area codes defined within the network. One demand scaling is required for each simulation. Nodes can be assigned to an area code. Area in this sense has no physical meaning. Demand scalings use this icon |
|
Electricity Tariff Group |
Defines the charges levied for electric power and allows the user to design control and pumping schemes to minimise costs. Electricity tariffs use this icon |
Energy CO2 Factors Group |
Contains sets of conversion factors used to convert energy losses in the network to a CO2 equivalent when carrying out sustainability analysis. Energy CO2 factor items use this icon |
|
|
Engineering Validation Group |
Contains sets of parameters for engineering validation. Engineering validation parameter sets use the following icon |
Export Style Group |
Export styles contain settings for automated and manual exports of simulation results (time-varying data, warnings, summary results) in IWLive. Export style items use this icon |
|
|
Fire Flow Group |
Contains sets of parameters for use when carrying out a Fire Flow - Hydrant Testing simulation. Fire flow items use this icon |
|
Flushing Schedule Group |
The Flushing Schedule Group contains the hydrant flushing schedules used when carrying out Flushing Simulations. Flushing Schedules use this icon |
Generalised Multi Run Group |
For setting up simulations that run multiple test cases. Generalised multi runs use this icon |
|
|
Graph Group |
Stores graph settings in a template for future use. Graphs use this icon See Saved Graphs for more details. |
|
Ground Model Grid Group |
Contains gridded network ground models from which InfoWorks WS Pro can generate elevation data during model building and flood mapping information during simulations. The grid ground models use this icon See Ground Model Grid for more details. |
|
Ground Model TIN Group |
Contains triangular irregular network ground models from which InfoWorks WS Pro can generate elevation data during model building and flood mapping information during simulations. These ground models can be imported from several external GIS sources. The TIN ground models use this icon See Ground Model TIN for more details. |
|
Inference Group |
Stores information about sets of rules to be used when inferring missing network values from existing data, allowing you to fill in gaps in your data with reasonable values. See Inference for more information. Inference items use this icon |
IWLive RunInfo Group |
Created by IWLive Pro, the IWLive RunInfo Group contains read only items containing run information for IWLive Pro projection, incident and response runs. IWLive RunInfo items use this icon Note: The icon appears faded in the tree view to indicate that the IWLive Pro Run Info group is a hidden object. |
|
IWLive Switch Controller Group |
Stores calendar information and connection details to weather feeds. This data is used to determine which database items to use when carrying out an IWLive projection run. See IWLive Switch Controller. Switch Controller items use this icon |

Stores information about a set of long labels displayed on the GeoPlan window. Label lists use this icon |
|
Layer List Group |
You can load additional map layers on the GeoPlan window to display all types of geographical information such as roads and buildings, surveyed maps, or even aerial photographs.
