About forms

Forms are the basis of the electronic report documents that are completed in the field, and can be tied to specific networks.

The functionality to create and edit forms is available only to System Administrators and Administrators.

A form can be created only using the Office version of InfoAsset Mobile, but can be designed for use on the Windows and Android platforms. A Default form is created which typically contains the InfoAsset Manager collection, distribution and/or asset system information required for carrying-out, for example, a CCTV survey, as well as form layout information. However, if the Application platform or Form platform is set to All, it is possible to also create an Android version of the Default form. In the Android version, you can choose which InfoAsset Manager system items from the Default form you want included in (or excluded from) the Android form. For example, you could exclude any items that are in the Default form which have dynamic data set for them that may not be required to be downloaded to an Android device. You are also able to create a form with a layout which may be more suitable for an Android device.

An option enables any of the InfoAsset Manager system items in the Android form to be updated with the current data from the Default form. Common properties, such as the name of the form, will be the same for both versions of the form.

If the form or application platform is set to either Android or Windows, then only a Default form can be created. This form can be viewed and edited on the specified platform.

Forms can have an In Development flag assigned to them. In Development forms are unavailable to non Administrator users and can be used for testing purposes by Administrators before they are released to all users.

The In Development flag can be assigned to individual forms at design time by editing their properties or a global behaviour can be set in the Options dialog.

You can choose to set a behaviour for the flag such that you never get prompted about switching it on or off. On the other hand, the global option to automatically mark forms as In Development until the application is published can be selected. Finally, you may prefer for the flag to be assigned by default to any newly created form and want to be able to switch it on or off when saving or editing the form.

In all cases, flags can be switched on or off when publishing the application or loading the application. See the In Development Form Flag topic for more information.
