About marking forms as In Development
It is possible for Administrators to mark forms (and reports) as In Development, destined to be published for testing purposes only. Such forms are hidden from any non-Administrators, meaning that non-administrators cannot generate reports from them.
Note: The In Development status affects all versions of the form and therefore any report generated using any version of the form.
The In Development status is set globally on the Editing sub page of the Options dialog.
There are three options available:
- Ask about marking the form as "In Development"
- Mark as "In Development" until the application is published
- Do nothing
Note: It is also possible to mark individual forms as In Development at design time, by changing the InDevelopment property to True in the Development section of the form's property box.
Effects of the In Development status
- If the Ask about marking... option has been chosen, all newly created forms are assigned as In Development. When a form is saved for the first time, or edited, a message is displayed, offering the user the possibility to remove the flag. If an existing published form without In Development status is edited, a message is displayed asking if you want to mark the form as In Development.
- When an application is published, InfoAsset Mobile checks it for forms marked as In Development. If any are found, you are offered the option to clear the flags before publishing.
- When an application is loaded (at login time or when the user changes application), if the user is a System Administrator or an Administrator and any form is marked as In Development, a message is displayed, explaining that non-administrators will not be able to see the form or any reports created from it until the status is cleared and the application published.
- If the user has a role strictly below Administrator, In Development forms are hidden from the New option; therefore no reports can be generated by these users from these forms.
- Local Reports are always displayed for In Development forms. Users who are Administrator or above can edit existing reports and create new ones from In Development forms. Users whose role is below Administrator can only view existing reports.
- As far as a report download is concerned: Administrators and above can download reports for forms that are In Development; Non administrators cannot download such reports either explicitly or as part of the report download.
-
There is no restriction on uploading reports created from In Development forms.
