Publishing applications
Once an application has been created, edited or had forms, maps or layers added and/or edited, it must be published to the server to make the application and any updates made to it available to all users.
An unpublished application can be used to create reports but only for the local system for testing purposes. They can be uploaded but only after the application has been published.
To publish an application:
- Select Tools | Publish Application, or click the (Publish Application) icon on the quick access toolbar.
If no changes have been made to the application, an information message is displayed.
- If an information message is displayed, click OK to close it.
If changes have been made, the sequence of events depends whether forms have been created or edited locally.
If forms have been created or edited locally:
- System Administrators and Administrators may get a message informing them that there are In Development forms present and offering them the option to clear their In Development flag. Select Yes or No, as appropriate. The message closes.
- The Publish Application dialog is displayed.
- Newly created forms appear in the top window, whereas edited forms and newly created or edited maps / layers appear in the lower window. Multiple forms may be published in one go – check the adjacent boxes of the forms that require publishing.
Tip: Checkboxes adjacent to new forms are automatically ticked, as well as checkboxes adjacent to maps and map layers. They can be de-selected for forms, but not for maps and layers.
- To publish the application, click the Publish button.
If no forms have been created or edited locally, but maps/layers have been created or edited:
- The Publish Application dialog is not displayed.
- If local dynamic layers have been created and added to the map, a message asks you if want to rebuild them.
- Click Yes to rebuild the local dynamic layers or No to skip the rebuild (it can be performed at any time via the Cache subpage of the Options dialog).
A warning message lets you know that once the OK button is pressed, the publishing process cannot be cancelled.
- To proceed, click OK (or Cancel to abort).
A progress dialog briefly displays the status of the publishing being carried out.
Once the publishing is complete, a confirmation message is displayed to let you know that the application has been published successfully.
- Click OK to close the message.
If a warning message relating to multiple outbound forms is displayed, refer to the InfoAsset ManagerOutBound form property described in the Property Box topic.
