Modelling a disconnected system
The network does not have to be fully connected to carry out simulations. The network may contain two or more disconnected sections. Although you will normally model just one complete network, you can model a disconnected system as long as each section of the network contains a way of calculating head. This means that each section must contain a Reservoir, Fixed Head Node or Well.
To carry out a simulation with disconnected networks:
- set up the simulation as normal as described in Creating and Scheduling a Run.
- remember to check the Disconnected System checkbox in the Run Type box to tell the simulation engine to expect a disconnected network. Forcing you to specifically set this option means that the simulation engine will still flag a disconnected network as an error unless you specify otherwise
The simulation will be run for all disconnected systems in the network. To restrict the simulation to a subset of the network, see Modelling a Subset of the Network.
