2D Line Sources

2D Line Source objects are used to define the location of a flow-time boundary line within a 2D Zone when undertaking 2D Modelling. Inflow associated with the line source discharges into the 2D mesh elements adjacent to the line.

The inflow initially enters the mesh elements on the left hand side of the line, relative to the direction in which the line was created. The direction of the line can be displayed in the Geoplan by including arrows in its theme.

If a line source is partially outside a 2D zone, then the flow that enters the 2D zone is proportional to the length of line that is within the zone. The same applies to 2D line sources which overlap voids.

A 2D line source cannot cross from one 2D zone to another.

Parameters are edited in the 2D Line Source Grid Window of the Lines Grid or the 2D Line Source Property Sheet.

When using Events to manage time varying profiles, an inflow hydrograph and a pollutograph can be associated with the 2D line source via an Inflow Event or a Pollutograph Event in the same way as inflows are associated with nodes.

When using a Time Series Database to manage time varying profiles, a TVD connector is connected to the point source using an input attribute of INPQ (Input flow).
