Results on Grid Windows
Simulation results can be displayed in a number of Grid Windows:
- Network Object Grid Windows - a replay of results throughout a simulation can be viewed on special results versions of the network object Grid Windows.
- Time Varying Data Grid - a grid of time varying data can also be displayed for a single network object, or for a selection of network objects.
- Grid Reports - several types of grid report can be generated - Worst Case Report, and for InfoWorks network simulations only, Flood Volume Report, Return Period Analysis Report and Velocity Profile Report. See the Grid Reports topic for further information.
When viewing a replay of a simulation, special versions of the network object Grid Windows can be opened to view a numeric replay of the results.
The normal replay controls are used to play, pause, step through or rewind the simulation. All the network object grid functions can be used to sort results, copy results to the clipboard, or export results to CSV files.
To open a results Grid Window:
- Make sure the simulation is open, and the GeoPlan Window is the Current Active WindowThe current Active Window in any Microsoft Windows application has a differently coloured title bar to all the other windows. In the default colour scheme, the active window title bar is blue, all other windows have a grey title bar.
- Click on the Grid Windows dropdown on the Windows Toolbar or choose a results view from the Grid windows sub-menu of the Window menu. (If the GeoPlan is not open as part of a simulation replay, the menu items and buttons are greyed out.)
The toolbar buttons are very similar to the standard grid buttons with an added replay symbol:
nodes | points | |
links |
polygon |
|
subcatchments | lines (InfoWorks networks) |
To display a grid showing time varying data for a single network object:
- Make sure the simulation is open, and the GeoPlan Window is the Current Active WindowThe current Active Window in any Microsoft Windows application has a differently coloured title bar to all the other windows. In the default colour scheme, the active window title bar is blue, all other windows have a grey title bar..
- Click the grid tool button on the Results Toolbar.
- Select a network object on the GeoPlan. If more than one network object is under the cursor, a dialog will be displayed allowing the required network object to be chosen.
- Select a network object and click OK to display the Time Varying Results Grid.
Grid results can only be displayed for network objects contained in selectable object layers.
Grid results can be displayed for a selected time period by adjusting replay start and finish times on the Replay Options dialog and checking the Apply to Grid and Graph Tools option.
A graph of time varying data can be displayed by carrying out the same procedure, but holding down the CTRL key and clicking on the network object. Alternatively, use the graph tool button . See Results on Graph Views.
Time varying results for a chosen parameter can be displayed in a grid for a selection of network objects.
To view a time varying attribute in a grid for a selection of network objects:
- On an open simulation, select one or more network objects. (Any mixture of nodes, links and subcatchments may be selected).
- Click the Grid Selected Objects button on the Results Toolbar. This displays the Grid Selection dialog.
- Select the options required from the dialog:
- Choose the type of object to be included in the grid using the object radio buttons.
- Select the attribute to be displayed in the grid. The attributes list contains time varying results that are available for the chosen type of object.
- Optionally deselect objects from the objects list to reduce the number of objects included in the grid.
- Check Downstream end to display data from the downstream end of links. The default is upstream.
- Click OK.
A Time Varying Results Grid is displayed that contains values for the results attribute and objects selected in the Grid Selection dialog.
Grid results can be displayed for a selected time period when you adjust the replay start and finish times on the Replay Options dialog and check the Apply to Grid and Graph Tools option.
