Results on Graph Views
Results can be graphed for a selection of network objects allowing results from selected objects to be compared (see below).
Results can also be displayed in the following graph views:
- Custom Graphs - customised graphs that can be saved and reused. See the Custom Graphs topic.
- Graph Reports - three types of graph report can be generated - Location Report, Simulation Report and Simulation Summary Report. See the Graph Reports topic for further information.
Graph results can be displayed for a selected time period by adjusting replay start and finish times on the Replay Options dialogand checking the Apply to Grid and Graph Tools option. Alternatively, to adjust the time period displayed by individual graphs, right click in the graph view and use the x-axis scaling options from the Graph Properties dialog.
On graphs produced by the Pick Graph tool or the Graph Selected Object tool , a red time line shows the current time of the simulation, mirroring the current time of the simulation on the Geoplan. To jump to a different simulation time, drag and drop the red line to the desired simulation time directly on the graph. The simulation date and time will be updated accordingly on the Geoplan.
A grid of time varying data can be displayed by carrying out the same procedure, but holding down the ctrl key and clicking on the network object. Alternatively use the grid tool button . See Results on Grid Windows.
Graphing Data for a Network Object
To display a graph of time varying data for a single network object:
- Make sure the simulation is open, and the GeoPlan Window is the Current Active WindowThe current Active Window in any Microsoft Windows application has a differently coloured title bar to all the other windows. In the default colour scheme, the active window title bar is blue, all other windows have a grey title bar..
- Either:
- Click on the graph tool button on the Results Toolbar.
- Click on a network object on the GeoPlan. If more than one network object is under the cursor, a dialog will be displayed allowing you to choose the required network object.
Or:
- Right-click on a network object on the GeoPlan, and choose the Graph option from the context menu. If more than one network object is under the cursor, select the Multiple Objects option and then the Graph option. A dialog will be displayed allowing you to choose the required network object.
- The Graph Pick Selection Dialog is displayed offering you a choice of time varying data to graph. The list will be appropriate to the type of network object selected. When comparing results in the GeoPlan Window the option to graph results of both simulations is made available.
- Click OK to display the Graph view.
Graph results can only be displayed for network objects contained in selectable object layers.
Graphing Selected Objects
To view parameters from more than one network object:
- Select one or more network objects. (Any mixture of nodes, links and subcatchments may be selected.)
- Click on the Graph Selected Objects button on the Results Toolbar. This displays the Graph Selection Dialog.
- Select the options required from the dialog:
- Choose the type of object to be graphed on the left and right axes.
- Optionally deselect objects from either list to reduce the number of traces displayed.
- Use the Common Object Selection check box to synchronise the selections in the right hand list with those in the left hand list. This option is only available if the chosen type of network object to be graphed is the same for both axes.
- Choose the parameters to plot on the two axes. The parameter lists contain parameters that are available for the chosen type of object to be graphed.
- Select the rainfall profile number to be displayed.
- Make sure the Downstream End check box is checked if you want to display data from the downstream end of links. The default is upstream.
- Click on OK to display the graphs.
Moving to a different simulation time directly on the graph
On graphs produced by the Pick Graph tool or the Graph Selected Object tool only, the red time line shows the current time of the simulation, mirroring the current time of the simulation on the Geoplan. To jump to a different simulation time, you can drag and drop the red line to the desired simulation time directly on the graph. The simulation date & time will be updated accordingly on the Geoplan.
Right click on the graph view and select Auto-label traces from the context menu to display a label showing the value of the trace at the current time of the simulation.
