Producing service level reports
About service level reports
There are two types of service level report:
- The service level report: used to display failures to meet a set of defined service levels during the period covered by the simulation.
- The service level summary report: used to display counts of failures to meet defined service levels for a selection of simulations.
For these reports, one or more of minimum pressure, maximum pressure, demand criteria and pressure threshold criteria can be set.
A service level failure is considered to occur at a location in any of these circumstances:
- pressure falls below the minimum pressure limit for the specified duration
- the maximum pressure limit is exceeded for a specified duration
- the ratio of actual to nominal demand falls below that specified in the demand efficiency field
- reduction in demand has exceeded a specified percentage (applicable when comparing a simulation against a base for Service Level Report only)
- increase and decrease in pressures have exceeded a specified threshold (applicable when comparing a simulation against a base only)
The default values for the service level criteria are set on the Service Levels page of the Options dialog. When producing reports for critical link analysis and shutdown simulations, the criteria will be set from the criteria used in the analysis.
If you have set the highest property for each node, you can use this additional information and create service level reports either for nodes or for the highest property served by each node. This will give a report of levels of service at these highest properties. Bear in mind that InfoWorks WS Pro takes into account the difference in height between the node and the highest property, but takes no account of any headloss in the service pipe. You may want to adjust your level of service report thresholds to take this into account.
This reporting mechanism allows you to monitor adherence to level of service standards at individual customer properties (for instance as defined in OFWAT regulations in the UK). The report will help you to work out critical points in the network where you might want to install pressure monitoring equipment to check the actual operation of the system.
Producing service level reports
To display a grid report of all failures to meet service levels:
- Choose Results | Grid reports | Service
level report.
This will display the Grid Report (Service Level) dialog.
If a simulation is open, the simulation name will be filled in automatically.
- If necessary, enter a simulation name.
- Optionally, select a base simulation against which
the simulation chosen in step 1 will be compared.
If a base simulation is selected, only differences between the simulation-to-compare and the base will be reported.
- Optionally, include a selection list of nodes that you do not wish to be checked against service level criteria.
- Set the required service levels:
- If required, change the Minimum Pressure, Maximum Pressure, Demand and Pressure Threshold Criteria.
- Choose to display service failures at nodes or at customer points. If you choose nodes, then you have the option of using the node or the highest property when calculating service level failures.
- Choose whether to include demand and leakage information.
- Choose whether to display a clusters grid of groups of failing nodes or customer points .
- To display the grid report, click Produce Grid.
The Grid Report (Service Level) view is displayed.
Producing service level summary reports
To display a grid report of counts of failures to meet service levels for a selection of simulations:
- Choose Results | Grid reports | Service level report summary.
This will display the Grid Report (Service Level Summary) dialog.
- Select simulations to be included in the report
- Optionally, select a base simulation against which
the simulations chosen in step 1 will be compared.
If a base simulation is selected, only differences between the simulations-to-compare and the base will be reported.
- Optionally, include a selection list of nodes that you do not wish to be checked against service level criteria.
- Set the required service levels:
- If required, change the Minimum Pressure, Maximum Pressure and Pressure Threshold Criteria.
- Choose to display service failures at nodes or at customer points. If you choose nodes, then you have the option of using the node or the highest property when calculating service level failures.
- To display the grid report, click Produce Grid.
The Grid Report (Service Level Summary) view is displayed.
