What's new in version 18.0 - June 2017

This topic lists the additions and improvements incorporated in InfoAsset Mobile version 18.0 which were not available in previous versions.

Please note that this new version also includes various enhancements and bug fixes that are not described in detail here.

General

User Group Management

Individual users can now be assigned to user groups within an application. You can also control access to forms and reports on a user group basis by assigning a permission (visible, read only or hidden) to each type of form within an application.

Server and InfoNet Interface services monitored automatically

You are no longer required to confirm that you want to monitor the Server and InfoNet Interface services when you click on a tab other than the Overview tab in the Server Management dialog as this is now monitored automatically. You can of course still stop and start the monitoring service using the Start / stop comms button.

Ignore platform restriction

A new option, Ignore platform restriction, is now available from the Server communications menu when you log on. A tick in front of this option (default) indicates that you will be able to view the application on any platform that it has been set up for. Although this option is available for all users, once a user is logged in and their role has been determined by InfoAsset Mobile, then a suitable warning message is displayed if the user does not have sufficient privileges to access that application from a particular platform.

Display options for the Scheduler

If a timeline has been chosen has the Scheduler, you can now choose if the column width should be set to normal, large, extra large or extra, extra large.

Applications

Device-specific applications and forms

In order to optimise the download and upload of data and to streamline the usability of an application, the platform used by the application can be set to Windows, Android or both. If the application platform is set to Windows or Android, then the form platform is automatically set to the same. However, if the application is available on both platforms, then you can choose which platform is to used by specific forms within that application.

Ignore platform restriction

A new option, Ignore platform restriction is available on the Application menu. This option is only available to Administrators and System Administrators, and enables them to turn the option on or off. A tick in front of this option (default) indicates that you will be able to view the application on any platform that it has been set up for.

Forms

Ignore platform restriction

A new option, Ignore platform restriction is available on the Forms menu. This option is only available to Administrators and System Administrators, and enables them to turn the option on or off. A tick in front of this option (default) indicates that you will be able to view the form on any platform that it has been set up for.

Dynamic data optimisation

If a form includes dynamic data that is not required in the field, because, for example, a report that is generated in the office will be sent out with that information already populated, or because the data set is very large and will cause performance and data issues, then optimisation of the dynamic data is possible by changing the dynamic data's default combo box to a text box while maintaining a link to the InfoAsset Manager object which provided the dynamic data.

Latest Image for Attachments

It is now possible to ensure that latest image for a selected, default purpose is attached in a form. When a user opens a report with this property, the Add (Add) button can be used to automatically find the latest file in the default image location, and attach it to the form.

Background colours

Form appearance can now be enhanced using colours. You can now set background colours form, pages, labels and buttons. See the Property Box topic for further information.

Default to current user

You can now set a combo box so that the current user is automatically selected as the default user. When a new report is created, InfoAsset Mobile will check if the user name of the current user matches the name set as the default user, and will automatically populate the field if they match. See the Property Box topic for further information.
