Selection Menu

The available options on the Selection Menu are as follows:

SQL select…

Permits an SQL query to be written to perform a selection on the current network. See SQL Queries for more information. More...

Save selection…

Saves the current selection as a new selection list, or to overwrite an existing selection list. 

  • Select a Selection List Group, type in a Selection List name and click Save to save current selection as a new selection list.

  • Select an existing Selection List and click Save to overwrite an existing Selection List.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then any currently selected excluded objects will also be included in the selection list.

Select all objects

Selects all objects in the current network.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then all excluded objects will also be selected.

Clear selection

Clears the current object selection from the current network.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then any currently selected excluded objects will also be cleared.

Invert selection

Inverts the current object selection. Currently selected objects will be de-selected; all objects that are not currently selected form the new selection.

This also applies to any selected excluded objects if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Excluded selected object selection

Enables the selection of excluded objects from any scenario except the base network. See the description of the Excluded object select tool for further information.

Expand selection

Enables current selection of network objects to be extended to include related objects. See the Expanding the selection topic for further information. More...

Select objects in selected polygons

Selects all object within currently selected polygon objects.

The current selection will be cleared and all objects with centroid within currently selected polygons and the polygons themselves will be selected.

This also applies to any excluded objects within the currently selected polygon if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Select zones by category

Selects all of the Zones in a specific Zone Category. See Selecting All Zones in a Category for more information.

Select defects for selected smoke tests

Applicable to Collection Networks only.

Selects all Smoke Defect Observations associated with currently selected Smoke Test Surveys. Associated Smoke Defect Observations will be added to the current selection. See Smoke Test Surveys for more information. More...

Select isolated nodes

Selects all nodes that are not connected to a link. (The current selection will be cleared prior to selection of isolated nodes.)

This also applies to excluded nodes if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Select changed…

Selects network objects which have been changed since changes to the network were last committed.

The current selection of objects will be cleared prior to selection of changed objects.

Applicable to Collection Networks only.

Adds custom labels to CCTV defects currently displayed on selected CCTV survey objects. See Displaying Labels on the GeoPlan for more information.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, custom labels for CCTV defects can also be added to selected excluded CCTV survey objects.

Create repairs for selected objects

Applies to Collection and Distribution Networks.

Creates Repair objects at all currently selected pipe and manhole objects. More...

Create location images for selected objects

Creates Location sketches for the objects currently selected in the GeoPlan Window.

A location sketch image will be created for each selected object with an empty location sketch field. The image will be created by saving a picture of an area of the GeoPlan Window centred on the selected object. More...

Merge pipes

Joins two selected pipes. For merging to take place, of the pipes to be merged: one must have a missing US Node ID and the other a missing DS Node ID. See Merging Selected Pipes for more information. More...

Split CCTV surveys

Applicable to Collection Networks only.

Automatically divide a selected CCTV Surveys that have been created for a run of pipes. The newly created CCTV Surveys will be associated with individual network pipes. See Splitting CCTV Surveys for more information. More...

Converts Nodes to Connection Nodes and vice versa. See Converting Node Types for more information. More...

Re-activate selected incidents and tasks

Examines the Completed and Closed fields of the currently selected Incident and Scheduled Task objects. For each of these objects that has its Completed and/or Closed field checked, this tool:

  • clears the Resolved/Completed and Date resolved / Date completed fields
  • clears the Closed and Date closed fields

Mark selected incidents and tasks complete

Examines the Completed field of the currently selected Incident and Scheduled Task objects. For each of these objects that has its Completed field unchecked, this tool:

  • sets Resolved/Completed field to checked
  • sets the Date resolved/Date completed field to today's date

Close selected incidents and tasks

Examines the Closed field of the currently selected Incident and Scheduled Task objects. For each of these objects that has its Closed field unchecked (i.e. task is still open), this tool:

  • sets Closed field to checked
  • sets the Date Closed field to today's date

Join/Connect

Contains menu items enabling the automatic association and connection of currently selected objects (such as surveys, smoke defects, incidents or properties) to other objects (such as pipes, tests, assets, or properties).

Join selected surveys with pipes

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to automatically associate surveys with pipes by matching the PLR / asset ID field of the survey to the Asset ID field of a pipe.

Surveys that can be joined in this way are:

  • CCTV Surveys

  • Smoke Test Surveys

  • Dye Test Surveys

  • Drain Test Surveys
  • Monitoring Surveys

Join selected repairs with pipes

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to automatically associate repairs with pipes by matching the PLR / asset ID field of the repair to the Asset ID field of a pipe.

Repairs that can be joined in this way are:

  • Pipe Clean
  • Pipe Repair
  • General Maintenance

Join selected incidents with pipes

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to automatically associate incidents with pipes by matching the PLR / asset ID field of the incident to the Asset ID field of a pipe.

Join selected smoke defects with tests

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to associate currently selected Smoke Defect Observations, to the nearest Smoke Test to the observation.

Join selected incidents with assets

Applies to Collection and Distribution Networks.

Use this command to associate currently selected Incidents, to the nearest asset (within a user defined Search Radius of the incident(s)).

Join selected incidents with properties

Applies to Collection and Distribution Networks.

Use this command to associate currently selected Incidents, to the nearest property (within a user defined Search Radius of the incident(s)).

Join/connect selected properties with pipes

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to associate currently selected Properties, to the nearest pipe (within a user defined Search Radius of the properties).

Selected properties may also be connected to the network by the creation of connection pipes and connection nodes.

Connect selected nodes with pipes

Applies to Collection Networks only.

Use this command to automatically connect selected nodes to the network by the creation of connection pipes and connection nodes.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window, and there are objects of the appropriate type included in the current selection.
